Summer Series #2 - No need to go to Paris for gold 🥇

2024 Olympics market impacts, ETH ETF insights, and a mid-year wealth review to keep your investments on track.

TL;DR: Summer Series #2 Wealth checkpoint, going for gold and Ethereum🥇

Welcome to #2 out of 5 of the Investrio Summer Series - designed to help you navigate the exciting yet surprising financial markets. If you haven't yet, it's the perfect time to take a step back and review your wealth. We designed this 🏁 4-step checkpoint 🏁 to guide your mid-year review and keep you on track to achieve your financial goals:

  1. Growth

    • Are you seeing the returns you expected? Compare your performance to market benchmarks. (Pro Tip: Track the growth of your portfolio as compared to major indices such as S&P 500).

  2. Risk vs. Return

    • Are you comfortable with the volatility aka ups and downs? Guarantee you're being rewarded appropriately for the risk you're taking. As an investor, you are always thinking about the risks you are taking.

  3. Fees and Expenses

    • DON'T SKIP THIS STEP!

Review the fees associated with your investments. High fees can eat into your returns, so look for ways to minimize costs such as low cost ETFs & mutual funds, not to mention free bank and brokerage accounts.

  4. Keeping it Green

    • If you're investing for income (like dividends & interest), check how much income your portfolio is generating and whether it meets your needs. Generally speaking, these are lower risk, also lower rewards.

If this is your first time looking at your portfolio this way, celebrate your wins and learn from your losses. Try to identify what worked well and what didn't to make better decisions moving forward. Don't be afraid to make changes, adjust your strategy accordingly, and good luck!

🚨On the radar:

👩‍🎓 Student Loans -This week, the Biden administration has placed millions of student loan borrowers into forbearance, pausing re-payments while holding the interest too. This is good news for borrowers, but it is the never-ending saga. Biden made headlines last week forgiving over 8 million borrowers, but before the debt could be wiped out, several groups of Republican-led states filed two separate legal challenges, blocking the repayments. So, while your debt's fate may be on hold, it's still a good idea to make those payments.

🥇Going for Gold - The 2024 Paris Olympics are capturing global attention, impacting both the sporting world and the stock market. U.S. companies like Airbnb, Coca-Cola, Intel, Procter & Gamble, and Visa, are strategic partner and set to gain major exposure (potentially boosting their stock performance too!) The Olympics is also a great boost for the local tourism and economy, can't wait to see the winners. 📈📈📈

🚣‍♀️ From Wall Street to Paris Olympics— This year, seasoned American rower Olivia Coffey is preparing for her second Olympic appearance at the Paris 2024 Games. She's juggled a full-time career as a senior associate for a large private equity firm in NYC while training and preparing for Team USA. Her commitment is incredibly inspiring for athletes and young professionals—we are cheering for you, Olivia! We are all Mac people here at Investrio, so it was business as usual. 😎

💰Crypto Corner

Presidents For Crypto - Last week, we showed you where each presidential candidate stands regarding crypto. With Kamala Harris entering the race, things have changed. Her team announced that they want to learn more about crypto, signaling a potential shift in their stance.

Meanwhile, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (independent) not only endorsed Bitcoin but also revealed that he has put a significant portion of his wealth into digital assets! (💡Pro tip: Even if you're a crypto fan, please diversify your portfolio!)

The new kid on the block- ETH ETFs had a strong debut, trading $1 billion on their first day—about 23% of the volume of the Bitcoin ETFs' launch day. However, the price action in week one of the ETH ETF is just the beginning. We're also looking at broader market impacts.

Since the spot Bitcoin ETF commenced trading in the U.S. in January, bitcoin has jumped 56% and ether 38%.

What’s Ethereum?

Ethereum is a blockchain platform that supports smart contracts and decentralized apps. ETH (Ether) is the cryptocurrency used for transactions on the network.
